Dan Barron named a strong starting X, with only the one star missing..(Madeline on a short term loan to Real Madrid) to take on the road to Upfield, last time these two teams met it was to record the Marvels first loss of the season…could we return the favor away?
After a quick ground inspection, it was decided that the pitch was in better condition than the MCG and once the ice started to melt the Marvel stars were willing to take to the field.
The Marvels settled well and came close to breaking the deadlock after just four minutes.
Keir rattled the crossbar from inside the six‐yard box and his shot sparked a goalmouth scramble.
Upfield slowly worked their way into the match with some great team play and outstanding individual efforts,
Keir – the liveliest of Marvels middle three during the first half – linked with Evan on numerous runs, just lacking the final touch to trouble the keeper.
Our keeper, Oscar, however was kept busy approaching the half‐time mark, forced into saves from distance and close quarters, keeping the Marvels within striking distance.
Perhaps the highlight of the match came when Luka was thrown to the left to create some run, within moments he created a magic moment when he wrong-footed two opponents in style to release Hugo on a diagonal run, finally linking with Evan who after some spectacular footwork was able to penetrate the defensive line and was able to score off a third rebound GOAL!

With the second half underway Both Hugo and Oliver came within a whisker of scoring after a couple of corners flashed wide of the post in the 23rd minute, while Jack hit the side netting just after.
Fulltime Upfield SC 6 – Moreland Marvels 1

While the Full‐time stats show comfortable possession and key area dominance for Upfield‐ 55 ‐ 45 % possession, the Marvels created chances and were unlucky not to score more goals with some great individual performances from Edwin and Tanner who repelled attack after attack and Zakaya also finding more confidence with some important touches.

Marvels showing glimpses of their short‐passing game, but Upfield on this occasion outclassed the visitors the precise team oriented passing and control.
