“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others” - Pericles
What a season it has been. The ups and downs, the triumphs and defeats, the moments of unspeakable joy and the pangs of utter despair. We never said it would be easy. Moreland City FC is one of the oldest football clubs in Australia. Our history spans over one hundred years - shifting affiliations, two world wars and waves of immigration have not slowed us down one bit. On the contrary, they’ve made us stronger. We are a club for all peoples, of all stripes, for those who share a deep and abiding passion for the beautiful game. We wear our crest with pride, and face the opposition with courage. Each weekend, the opposition know that they are not facing any meagre, simple club. No… They are coming up against the face of Australian football itself. That is right. Moreland City FC IS Australian football. Our long-standing, multicultural and glorious history shines forth every time one of our players steps onto the Well Money Park turf. This is our legacy. Sure, we have the trophies. We have our club name engraved in the ‘stone monuments’ of the past… But most importantly, the Ol’ Red, White and Blue is engraved in the warm hearts of our supporters, players and staff - as this season has clearly demonstrated. This Saturday is do or die. We either ‘come back with our shields, or on them’. No matter what happens, the very life force of the club is behind our senior side every step of the way. Let’s continue our legacy. Let’s give them something to write about. On Saturday, let’s write the future of Australian football. #WE ARE MORELAND.
